An Advent Prayer
O God of Light and Goodness, please bless our families and friends; bind us together by your love. Give us kindness and patience during this Advent time of active waiting and preparing. Let the gifts of your hope, peace, joy, and love come into our hearts and remain with us as we anticipate and recognize the presence of your son, Jesus, not just on Christmas and in the Second Coming, but EVERY day in ways big and small. With thankful hearts, we pray. Amen.
Happy 1st Week of Advent!
Many of us have celebrated Advent in our homes since we were very little: Advent wreaths, Advent Stories, Advent Calendars, the Little Book Daily Advent Reflections, "searching"
for the baby Jesus from our manger scenes, the Jesse Tree...
***I would love to know how YOU and YOUR FAMILY actively wait for Christmas. Please consider sharing one or more of your traditions with us in the COMMENT section.***
But, perhaps, you don't have a yearly Advent practice/tradition or you feel like your regular Advent routine has become TOO REGULAR or TOO ROUTINE. Check out these fresh BUSTED HALO resources.

How About a Classic Advent Tune with a
December Corporal Work of Mercy:
SHELTER THE HOMELESS
The Liturgical Season may have changed, but putting LOVE TO WORK is something we can and should do all year round. Our first two Corporal Works of Mercy: Clothe the Naked and Feed the Hungry were fairly easy to act on, but sheltering the homeless can be a bit more challenging. The person in the image above may or may not be homeless. This is also true of the people we pass on the street or see in Meijer. How do we help an often "unseen" population? Who are they? Where are they? Since most
of us do not possess the resources or skills to build houses for folks on our own, an easy way to begin is to look for those who are already helping:
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
"Midland County Habitat for Humanity (MCHFH) is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities and hope."
We can help in 3 ways:
1. Donate items at their ReStore
2. Become a volunteer
3. Make a financial donation

HOME TO STAY
"Home To Stay Housing Assistance Center helps Midland County residents in need sustain stable housing through education, advocacy and support services, promoting self-sufficiency."
We can help in 4 ways:
1. Donate gently used furniture and appliances
2. Volunteer to pick up and deliver that furniture and those appliances
3. Help with home repairs
4. Make a financial donation
“Jesus came to the world homeless, and made himself poor. Then, the church wishes to embrace all and to say that it is a right to have a roof over your head..."
